The scientific name of rushes, “Juncus,” means “to tie”. The word “yu,” from which the word “yoga” is derived, also means “to connect.” Aren’t there great connections between “rushes” and “yoga,” which were both born in India by coincidence, from long ago? This yoga mat has a pleasant smell of natural rush grass. This smell is proven to enhance concentration. Sweat absorbing – The moisture absorbing ability of rush grass is 2.5 times that of cotton. Deodorizing – Rush grass absorbs bodily odor, foot odor and other unpleasant smells. The non-slip material at the other side of the mat is certainly very reassuring to one when using the yoga mat - it ‘grips’ the ground. The colour of the binding matches well with the rush materials which extrudes a pleasant earthly smell. Definitely a beautiful piece of good craftsmanship.
