The “Wuyi Oolong Box” – A Wuyi Oolong Tea Sampler The 5th edition is a “Wuyi Oolong Box”. As such, it offers a representative cross-section of the famous Wuyi Rock Oolongs and other Wuyi Oolong Teas. At this, the spectrum ranges from representatives of the legendary “Si Da Min Cong” native Wuyi cultivars such as Da Hong Pao (Big Red Robe), Tie Luo Han (Iron Arhat) or Shui Jin Gui (Golden Turtle) to cultivars such as Shui Xian (Narcissus), Rou Gui (Cinnamon) or the Ai Jiao (Dwarf) Oolong tea cultivar, originating from other regions in Fujian, but brought to Wuyishan because of its particularly beneficial terroir in more recent times. click picture to enlarge Accordingly, the ClubBox No.5 @ Siam Tea Shop offers 20g each of the following 6 Wuyi Oolong Teas: 1. Authentique Qidan Da Hong Pao Oolong The tea plants thrive in a tea garden of the Chen family in Wuyishan’s zhengyang area, the core area for the cultivation of genuine Wuyi Yancha / rock oolong teas. Steintees. Finest leaf quality and picking standard; medium  roast and degree of oxidation; open rolled leaf; taste: mineral-earthy base note, dominated by sweet harmoniously composed and embedded dried fruit notes. 2. Zhengyan Rou Gui (Cinnamon) Rock Oolong Rou Gui (= Cinnamon) Oolong Tea is one of Wuyishan’s 5 most popular ‘Rock’ Oolong Teas (chin.: 岩茶青 ‘Yancha’ Oolong Tea). Our Spring ‘Zheng Shan’ Imperial Rou Gui Wuyi Rock Oolong Tea comes from the traditional core area of Wuyi Yancha Oolong cultivation and processing, the area around Tong Mu village. Handpicked, spring harvest, picking standard 1 2, traditional rock tea processing in 100% handwork. 3. Zhengyan Shui Xian (Narcissus) Yancha Oolong Shui Xian (= Narcissus) Oolong Tea is one of Wuyishan’s 5 most popular ‘Rock’ Oolong Teas (chin.: 岩茶青 ‘Yancha’ Oolong Tea). Our Spring Zhengyan Shui Xian Yancha Oolong Tea comes from Wuyishan’s core area for authentic Wuyi rock teas. There, the Chen family tends a range of tea gardens that have been in the family’s possesion for 3 generations. At the Chen family, picking and processing are done 100% by hand. The resulting tea is characterized by deep sweetness, pronounced mineral notes and unique roast flavor. 4. Banyan Ti Luo Han (Iron Arhat) Oolong Tie Luo Han is one of the 4 great ancient Wuyi rock tea or “Yan Cha” oolong tea cultivars. Our Tie Luo Han comes from a tea garden in the hills surroung the village of Da Shui Keng, in Wuyishan’s “Banyan” area. Handpicking and traditional manual processing make this tea a true artisan tea. In terms of taste, it is the intense sweet dry fruit notes that make up this tea. These unfold especially in the posterior palate to a complex variety of tantalizing flavors. And reward the connoisseur with an exceptionally long lingering and intense finish on the taste buds. 5. Zhengyan Shui Yin Gui  (Golden Turtle) Yancha Oolong Shui Jin Gui is one of the 4 great ancient Wuyi rock tea or “Yancha” oolong tea cultivars. Our Tie Luo Han comes from a “zhengyan” tea garden of the long-established Chen Wuyi tea farmer family. Beyond being an authentique Wuyi rock oolong tea, handpicking and traditional manual processing make this tea a true artisan tea. In terms of taste, it is the intense fruity and sweet notes that make up this tea. These unfold across the whole palate to a complex variety of tantalizing flavors – and reward the connoisseur with an exceptionally long lingering and intense finish on the taste buds. 6. Wuyi Waishan “Ai Jiao” Dwarf Oolong “Ai Jiao” or “Dwarf” oolong tea is an oolong tea typical of the east Chinese province of Fujian. Accordingly, the open-rolled leaf, medium roasting an rather high level of oxidation are major processing characteristics. In terms of taste, the tea is characterized by the sweet dried fruit notes typical of the Oolong teas of this region and processing style, melting with mild roast flavors to a perfectly harmonious sweet and mellow taste.
