Beschreibung HERKUNFT UND ERNTEZEIT Fujian, Mt. Wuyi, China, This 2025 harvest has been newly sourced and released in 2026 March CHARAKTER The Eight Immortals oolong is a rare and highly valued subtype of Wuyi roasted oolong teas. It is exceptionally rich in aroma and fragrance, offering not only the characteristic charcoal-roasted and toasty notes of the style, but also a remarkably layered, thought-provoking, and substantial infusion. Just as the remarkable group of the Eight Immortals is made up of distinct, legendary individuals, so too does the tea’s diverse range of flavors come together as a unified, complex, and extraordinary experience. - In Chinese folklore, the concept of immortality is deeply widespread. The traditions of Taoist inner alchemy, meditative practices, longevity-enhancing elixirs, and magical talismans have given rise to countless myths among the people. One outcome of organizing these myths into a more structured form is the tradition associated with the “Eight Immortals.” The term “Eight Immortals” (Baxian) refers to eight Taoist sages who, according to tradition, came to understand the mysteries of the Dao and attained immortality. They first began to appear as a unified group in Yuan dynasty (1271–1368) dramas. The legendary Eight Immortals represent a wide range of social statuses, genders, and ages, among them are women and men, the poor and the wealthy, the old and the young. Chinese tradition holds that through the example of the Eight Immortals, even an ordinary person can come to grasp the essence of the Dao and attain inner enlightenment. Across China, numerous Taoist temples have been built in their honor, where they are venerated through religious ceremonies and festivals. The Eight Immortals are: Lü Tung-pin (吕洞宾) – An alchemist said to have lived around 755–805, often depicted with a fly-whisk and a magical sword. Li Tie-guai (李铁拐) – Patron saint of the sick and disabled, typically shown with a staff and a gourd. Zhongli Quan (钟离权) – Recognizable by his bare belly and feather fan; regarded as a patron of soldiers. Han Xiangzi (韩湘子) – A young man depicted with a flute, considered the patron of musicians. Cao Guojiu (曹国舅) – Patron of actors, portrayed with castanets and a jade tablet granting access to the imperial court. Zhang Guolao (张果老) – Patron of the elderly, depicted with a white donkey, a bamboo drum, and iron castanets. Lan Caihe (蓝采和) – Patron of flower sellers, shown either as a young boy or girl, holding a basket of flowers. He Xiangu (何仙姑) – The only female immortal, depicted with a lotus flower or a basket of flowers, sometimes holding a peach and a ladle. you get more information in the tea bar, as about our favorite topic.
