Description Buttermilk Vanilla Fudge is just how traditional fudge should be: crumbly, buttery, sweet and moorish! Like most things in life, fudge comes in different qualities, from home-made to mass produced. Buttermilk is a family run business that started in a small shop in Padstow more than fifty years ago. Although the company has grown significantly since 1960 when the first batches of fudge were made in small amounts above the shop in Padstow, quality has not suffered. Crumbly, melt in your mouth delicious, it’s hard to choose between traditional Buttermilk vanilla fudge or the equally delicious caramel sea salt. Fans of the television series “Doc Martin” might be interested to know that the shop is still there, and was in fact used as the set for the Chemist in Doc Martin. These days Buttermilk operates out of a modern factory in Bodmin. Although the set-up is larger and more modern than when things started in Padstow, the award-winning treats are still lovingly handmade by skilled confectioners using traditional methods and copper pans over open flames.
