Details Annatto Seed –BIXA ORELLANA (Whole) (Organically Grown) Available in 1 OZ. Description: Annatto Seed is from the heart-shaped, rose colored fruit of the Achiote shrub, a member of the Bixaceae family. Annatto is the natural pigment produced from the bright crimson seed coats which yield the red dye bixin and the yellow dye orellin. It is an FDA approved natural colorant. The scent of Annatto seed is slightly peppery with a hint of nutmeg and the flavor is slightly sweet and peppery.
