Shishimi Togarashi ist eine typisch japanische scharfe Gewürzmischung aus 7 Zutaten, die je nach Rezept variieren können. Basiszutat sind in jedem Fall rote Chilies, daher ist dieses Gewürz auch sehr scharf. Es kann in der europäischen Küche wie andere Chili-Pulver eingesetzt werden. Besonders spannend ist es, es wie die Japaner in einer Suppe zu verwenden, wo ein Hauch davon zugegeben der Suppe eine spannende (aufgrund der niedrigen Dosierung angenehm scharfe) Würzung gibt.
